Jo DeGoldi, a teacher for musical theatre and drama for high school students

Jo DeGoldi

Head Teacher - Freshman Musical Theatre

Jo began performing at the age of three and has enjoyed a long and varied career in the performing arts. She made her professional debut at just ten years old in the Australian tour of Evita, beginning what would become a lifelong passion for performance.

At eighteen, Jo joined the circus and travelled throughout Australia and Asia as a dancer and trapeze artist. She later went on to run her own Circus and Dance school for 23 years, sharing her love of performance and movement with countless young performers.

Jo now teaches Tap and Musical Theatre and is the resident choreographer at Skye Youth Theatre, where she is currently working on her fourth production. By day she works as a primary school teacher, and in her spare time she continues to perform in productions across the Gold Coast, including five shows at Spotlight Theatre.

Jo is thrilled to be joining the teaching team in the Spotlight Youth Theatre Program in 2026 and looks forward to sharing her experience, energy and love of theatre with the next generation of performers.
