History
Spotlight Theatre has been a part of the Gold Coast’s cultural landscape for more than 70 years. Established in 1955 as the South Coast Revue Company under the guidance of Joyce Forbes, the company began producing shows at the former Diggers Hall in Southport. As the Gold Coast grew, so did the company, eventually becoming the Spotlight Theatrical Company and establishing its home at 185–187 Ashmore Road, Benowa. Today, Spotlight Theatre is one of the Gold Coast’s longest-running community theatre organisations, providing opportunities for performers, creatives, volunteers and audiences of all ages while continuing its tradition of producing live theatre and musical theatre for the local community.
